2025.03.12 Peppol MLS and SPIS Member Review

The eDEC Change Management Board has approved initial versions of the following new eDelivery specifications:

·       Peppol Message Level Status (MLS) specification v1.0.0

·       Peppol Service Provider Identification Scheme (SPIS) specification v1.0.0

The approval process requires a review by OpenPeppol members.

The new Peppol MLS specification should help Peppol Service Providers to increase the reliability of the message exchanges over the Peppol Network. It is based on the existing Peppol Message Level Response (MLR) specification and primarily extends the scope and changes the actors from the End Users (C1, C4) to the Peppol Service Providers (C2, C3).

Note: This is only the MLS specification defining the content and the rules of the document. eDEC is in parallel working on another document “Service Provider Operational Guideline for MLS” which will clarify its usage in the Peppol Network.

The other new Peppol SPIS specification is intended to fill the gap of the current participant identification schemes that solely target to identify End Users. This new scheme is explicitly targeted towards Peppol Service Providers and will act as the primary identification scheme.

Note: OpenPeppol is actively working on registering the SPIS into the official ICD code list to receive an official code. However, this process is not yet finalized so the final code is not available per today.
