2024.12.20 review for SML Operational Improvements

2024.12.20 review for SML Operational Improvements

The eDEC Change Management Board has approved release candidates of the following eDelivery specifications:

  • Peppol Policy for use of Identifiers v4.4.0 updating v4.3.0

  • Peppol Service Metadata Locator v1.3.0 updating v1.2.0

  • Peppol Service Metadata Publishing v1.4.0 updating v1.3.0

The approval process requires a review by OpenPeppol members.

The specification changes target to modify the SMP lookup to use DNS “NAPTR” records instead of “CNAME” records with the goal to effectively reduce the amount of DNS entries in the DNS zone used by Peppol. Additionally, it requires all SMP instances to be operated with a secure network connection only (https).

Each specification document is provided in two versions: a) the source Word document with track changes enabled and b) as a PDF document suitable for printing, with all changes accepted.

Note: eDEC is working on a supporting migration guideline for these changes. The guideline is targeted to be ready before the final specifications are published.

Any comments you have are to be submitted by using the comment template. Please do not alter the template. Any altered template cannot be processed. This template must be submitted via the Service Desk of OpenPeppol:  General support

Please use ‘CNAME to NAPTR’ in the topic when submitting. This will optimize the processing.

The review period ends on 2 February 2025 end of day. All comments submitted in the review period will be processed and made available to the eDEC CMB.
