Data store | a repository for persistently storing and managing collections of data. |

Location Discovery Service | A service that takes in information about a Participant and provides the URL of the Capability Metadata or Business Card Service for that Participant as registered in the Metadata Service Location Registry. In Peppol, this is done using DNS. |

Metadata Service Location Registry | Contains a mapping of Participants to the URL of their Capability Metadata Service and Business Card Service. In Peppol, this is the SML. |

Participant | An entity, typically a business or government, which sends and/or receives business document, e.g. invoices. In a four-corner model network Corner 1 (C1) and Corner 4 (C4) are both participants. |

Privacy-sensitive data | data that may be privacy sensitive, although that sensitivity may depend on the jurisdiction. Examples could include company name, address, contact information, etc. |

Privacy-sensitive transport-related data | data that is both privacy-sensitive and transport-related. Special care must be taken with this data, because by its nature it needs to be both publicly accessible and awarded special privacy treatment (for instance being stored inside its jurisdiction) at the same time. It is not clear if any data like this exists. |

Registration Agent | An actor that acts on behalf of the Participant to manage its registration in the Metadata Service Location Registry through a Registrar’s Registration Service but does not operate their own Registration Service. In Peppol the SMP Service Providers are Registration Agents. |
